Oil on Canvas – 100cm x 100cm – Framed and mounted on rotating bearings – 2019 by Neal Scrase. Original and Prints now available.
This is a sneak preview of my latest works finished earlier in the year. I have planned to exhibit this work at the International Art Fair later in the year. This work is 1m square and is fitting with a rotating bearing hidden behind the canvas that allows you to rotate the image through a full 360 degrees.
The work reflect the turmoil and challenges that that lay ahead in your endeavours. They might seem to be insurmountable at first glance but by slowly working through each challenge you can reach the goal or light at the end of the tunnel. In this scenario we are looking at the Southern Ocean as a metaphor where by the Round the World yachtsmen have to survive the Southern Ocean and it’s many perils before they can claim victory or even just to make it home safely. The oration of the image is to allow the thought that you are at the bottom of the globe in the circular Southern Ocean and the circular turmoil of the water creates the questions and challenges ahead.
This work is a follow on work from the the original smaller work called Circular Spirit.
